Jesse comes to Duplicity fresh off of the end of her main canon, specifically post-Foundation. She might have the sneaking suspicion that this is ploy by the Board (a group of extraplanar entities that could use a seminar on communication skills) to get her back in line but she can't be entirely sure... and as enforced vacations go, this is right up there with the kind of thing she might expect from them, given what she's heard.

Name: Jesse Faden Door: Brings Joy

Age: 28 Appearance: Jesse is of average height and build, red curly hair, and bright green eyes. She tends to keep her hair in a pony tail when active duty, but she can put it up into a bun for "official" duties.
Personality: Positive Trait: Determined Even as a small child, Jesse was always the sort to fight and try to do something about situations around her. When a kid was bullied, she befriended him. When the people she loved were threatened, she tried to fight it. When everything went to hell, she ran and when her brother was taken, she resolved against all reason to find him and reunite with him, up to and including hunting down a supernatural government agency and fighting through a literal invasion force to get to him. Not to mention the fact that when she was faced with a literal alien invasion force and even had her guiding light, Polaris, taken from her, Jesse was able to push through and keep going, succeeding against the Hiss when no one else would even attempt such things half the time. When Jesse sets her mind to it, she might wait but she'll never stop trying.
Negative Trait: Guilt-Ridden Due to, as far as she knows, making her parents and every adult in her hometown disappear with a random absent wish and letting her brother be taken by the FBC when she got away, Jesse has a lot of guilt and she's prone to taking the blaming herself for any fallout, no matter how unrealistic it might be. During the Foundation DLC, she gets orders from the Board and uses that plus as much as her experts know and what she does results in worsening the problem. And yet, despite being 100% over her head and over the head of everyone who's worked there for ages more than her, she immediately decides to do whatever she has to do fix things, even if it kills her, because it's her responsibility.
Negative Trait: Self-Doubting After years of having her perceptions doubted by psychiatrists (because she could see past some shifts in reality that other people weren't aware of and the strange events of her childhood), not to mention years of having Polaris in her head when everyone would doubt such a thing... she doesn't doubt her perceptions. But all that questioning plus her guilt has made her doubt her decisions and her ability to be helpful in a situation. Very often, she thinks she won't be able to do something or she'll actually make it worse and those fears are a vulnerability that other people have used against her before. It's part of why she had to reclaim her power at the end of the game: a part of her believes she's unworthy of power and authority and while she's conquered it by the end of the game, that is not a one time battle, as shown by the DLC.
Negative Trait: Impetuous Jesse doesn't wait for more data, doesn't question very much when people are in danger or ask her for help. She's also willing to throw herself into the effort before fully exploring what's being asked or really considering when or if she can help someone while helping someone else. She's 100% a help/do/act before thinking person which is sweet but it can and has made things worst before it made things better.
Powers and Abilities: Jesse is a parautilitarian, meaning she can use paranatural/seemingly psychic powers. She is an extremely powerful one; a previous director was able to move a bowling ball six feet and that was considered huge while she's flinging boulders and running around being able to pick up multiple objects or make shields or dominate enemies minds to fight for her like a boss. Being the director of the FBC, she has bound to her a number of objects [click each name for more specifics] that have enhanced her abilities as well as being the originator of a signal from another dimension (which she has named 'Polaris') which boils down to the power to: - telekinetically smash things, including stone floors - telekinetically pick up and throw objects large and small - telekinetically pick up and throw people - telekinetically control stones to act as a shield around her - dash super quick to avoid attacks - able to track and find objects or locations with something of a sixth sense (nerfed in any case where game mechanics require it) - float/fly for short distances (like football field instead of 'around the world') - teleportation between points she's 'claimed'/set up (has to have been there before, basically) [nerfed when against game mechanics] - see through shifts in reality made by other people or powers (she can remember Thomas Zane despite that character using his own Fiction to rewrite reality so that he didn't exist) [nerfed against game mechanics] - the ability to enter the Astral Plane safely and traverse it [probably won't come up] - cleanse minds of the influence of alien presences [nerfed for game effects]
Her abilities re: the Hotline (contacting the Board and the dead) and the X Ray Machine (dominating other people's will to make them allies) will be cut off in game. It's my world, but it's not my world. The rules are different, but they're only a little bit different. Horny. Like everything is so horny. But it's such a joke, how horny everything is. It doesn't feel real, but I know that there's a whole society that just does this and I have to wonder if someone from here went there, how they'd handle it. Would they be just as confused at how puritan we are? Would they be like 'how do you decide things when no one wants to talk about who's top and bottom when fucking'? It's a wild idea, isn't it? Reminds me of the guy in the containment unit with the moon landing stuff. Now it's me, from the moon, being here on 'Earth'. Gerbil took the dick head, am I right?
